Andy Cooks Visits Attica Melbourne
We proudly acknowledge the Bunurong as the first people to love, live and dine on the lands on which Attica sits today.
We recognise that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Peoples were the first sovereign nations of Australia from time immemorial, and they never ceded this sovereignty.

"The Method Behind Attica's Success" video on Andy Cooks Youtube
When Andy Cooks visited us here at Attica Melbourne, it felt less like filming content and more like welcoming a friend into our home. In his latest video Andy Cooks at Attica – YouTube, Andy describes Attica as the restaurant that “put Australian cuisine on the world map.” Those words remind us of why we continue to reinvent ourselves through creativity, respect, and care.
For those who may not know, Andy is an incredible chef who has built a global community through his high-quality food videos on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. To have him spend time with us was both an honour and a joy.
Andy observed what we hope guests and collaborators always feel: a kitchen that balances calm with intensity, where creativity sits alongside humility. He spoke about the culture here of respect, inclusion, and care, as much as he spoke about the food we produce and serve.
For us, it was heartening to see those values shine through. Andy noticed the way our team works together, how learning and curiosity drive each day, and how the energy in the kitchen is focused but welcoming.
“It’s calm yet intense,” Andy says, capturing the balance of precision and playfulness that defines service here at Attica
Andy’s reflections reminded us that Attica is part of a much larger story about Australian fine dining. For more than two decades, our focus has been on connecting with native Australian ingredients, supporting our team, and finding ways to evolve without losing sight of what matters most.
While lists of 'the best restaurants in Melbourne' will always come and go, what we hold onto is the opportunity to create meaningful experiences—for our guests, our staff, and the wider community.
At the daily team meeting, Andy told the staff: “Attica is nothing without you guys. Nothing. Be proud of where you are because it’s incredible.”
We are grateful to Andy for sharing his perspective so openly, and for helping shine a light on our little restaurant at the edge of the world. His video offers a glimpse into Attica that feels both humbling and affirming.
